North CornwallTrevathan is situated 3/4 mile due south of St Endellion Church. The south facing cottages have panoramic views of unspoilt countryside. There are lovely walks on and around our farm and the North Cornish coastline is breathtaking. Port Isaac and the surrounding area has provided a perfect backdrop for films and television with Saving Grace and Doc Martin set in the village. Not more than a 10 minute drive away are Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock which provide some of the best sailing, surfing, wind-surfing and water skiing Cornwall has to offer. Sea Fishing trips can be arranged from Port Isaac and Padstow which is home to Rick Stein's famous seafood restaurant. There is a wide variety of country pubs and restaurants within a 5 mile radius. Cycle the Camel trail, pony trek across the moors or have a round of golf at one of the many golf courses, St Enodoc, Bowood, Lanhydrock or St Kew. There are leisure centres at Wadebridge, Camelford, and Bodmin, all of which have swimming pools and offer a wide range of activities for young and old. Pop into one of the local Tourist Information Centres who will help you plan your days. So much to see and do...or just stay at the farm, bring a good book and revel in the peace and tranquility that Trevathan has to offer.
In 2006 selected mining landscapes across Cornwall and west Devon were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, placing Cornish mining heritage on a par with international treasures like Machu Pichu, the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall of China. Ten separate Areas make up the World Heritage Site, each has its own character and opportunities for adventure. The largest World Heritage Site in the UK, with over 20,000 hectares spread across Cornwall and west Devon, it offers myriad experiences to explore our world-changing mining culture. The mining story is set against one of the most spectacular backdrops imaginable – a strikingly beautiful coastline, rugged moors, idyllic countryside, lush river valleys, and bustling towns and harbours. To explore the stories of Cornish mining in the area, visit the mining attractions or simply plan a day trip within one of the World Heritage Site areas, please use the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site widget within this website.
